An anouncement was made on Monday by Oklahoma Lottery officials that a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $2 million has been claimed at lottery headquarters from a drawing a few weeks prior. Sources, report that the winning ticket was turned over by "FDC Investment Trust" and was purchased at a local grocery in Shawnee, OK. The winning ticket will award the recipient a total of $1.42 million, after taxes.
Since the birth of the Oklahoma Lottery in 2005, the program has had 55 winners and paid out over $1 million in gains. Four of which, have hit the Powerball jackpot. The number of payouts, however, are nothing in comparison to the amount in proceeds that all lottery games bring in to support Oklahoma education. More than $752 million has been donated to Oklahoma schools for educational programs regarding K-12 funding, School Consolidation Assistance Funds, Teachers’ Retirement System, Career Tech, higher education, and several others; although these numbers are disputed by several Oklahoma news sources.
